Artist Edition — Xander Beattie (2025)
ZAR 1,450.00
Bound by hand, this ultra-luxe limited edition is a fundraiser for the Pride Shelter.

Only 180 copies of the Artist Edition of The President were produced, each crafted by hand in Johannesburg. The book was designed by Catarina Pereira of Voodoo Voodoo Studio in Berlin.

Set in 2012 South Africa, The President is a partly inspired by the vicious real-life backlash to Brett Murray’s painting, The Spear (which controversially depicted South Africa’s then-president, Jacob Zuma). However, in “this engrossing debut” Publishers Weekly says “the action doesn’t read like thinly disguised reporting. Instead, like the best political thrillers, it’s suspenseful, propulsive, and infuriating at once. Readers will be rapt.”

Each copy of the Artist Edition comes with a fine art print by the infamous South African artist Brett Murray. Proceeds from the sale of both go to the Pride Shelter (Africa's first safe haven for LGBTQI+ folks in crisis).
